UK Ultimate Salon winner, Simon Webster Hair was founded in 2012 by Simon and Sophie.
A fresh approach…
Simon Webster Hair is an independent salon with Brighton firmly at our heart. We’re about delivering the professionalism of a high-end brand with the warm welcome and laidback elegance of a local salon.
Our in-salon services include styling and colouring, curls and waving, hair extensions and wigs with our specialists offering complimentary consultations. And our gender-free service pricing, people-focused and progressive approach are at the very centre of our ethos.
Simon is a UK Guest Artist and Ambassador for KMS and Shu Uemura, working in the hairdressing industry for over 30 years. Our stylists hold a number of national awards and nominations between them, regularly working for publications, fashion houses, brands and publications. Their work in education and fashion enables us to bring a bespoke, creative and personalised styling to our clients in-salon that has earned us recognition by leading industry ambassadors:
- Salon Business Awards – UK Ultimate Salon WINNER
- National Hairdressers Foundation – Best Newcomer WINNER
- The Fellowship For British Hairdressing – Salon of the Year
- British Hairdressing Business Awards – Salon of the Year

SWH Team’s creative professional achievements inspire, educate and enhance our salon experience.
We specialise in curls, colour and hair extensions. And our services encompass innovative freehand and classic techniques, bespoke services, contemporary and vintage, razor cutting, perming, waving and afro.
We provide thorough in-chair education to ensure clients have an understanding of the products and techniques used in-salon to recreate their styles at home.

- UK Good Salon Guide
As members of the National Hairdressers Federation and the Good Salon Guide, SWH endorses responsible colouring and styling.
For the benefit and reassurance of our clients we will…
- Offer all clients complimentary colour, styling or product consultations
- Never use products that we cannot endorse
- Skin-test all new colour clients 48hrs (min) prior to any service
- Conduct a strand test where the integrity of the hair may be affected by a service
- Never offer colour or chemical-based services to under-16s
The SWH ethos was informed by both our experiences in hairdressing and perspective as a client. We wanted to create a brand that dealt with the frustrations we’d both experienced and celebrated those things we loved. Our backgrounds incorporate music, art and education so our approach to business was equally creative. We strive for complete transparency, inclusivity and professionalism. Our small team has grown through personal recommendation and become an international collaborative.
Our employment options and opportunities focus on staff well-being with initiatives that encourage professional and personal development. We have successfully built a loyal and highly-skilled team. Many have been with us since the beginning.
Some have progressed to owning their own salons. Many return to us as collaborating ‘guest artists’. Most also have successful careers in session-work that we actively encourage and promote; there are no restrictions. It makes for a very diverse, talented and eclectic team of stylists and a salon clientele that feel well-informed, inspired and excited by what we do.

Although large and airy, SWH feels immediately welcoming and personal. The interior is rockabilly blue with warm concrete walls adorned with original imagery by SWH Art Team and a fresh metro-tiled backwash. Plush leather furniture is offset with industrial styling stations, complete with silver-gilt mirrors and air-purifying plants in macramé. Bespoke-commissioned pieces made by local designers and artists are a respectful nod to our fellow creatives. An interactive Sonos music system allows clients to set the mood of their visit.
On the bustling ground floor sit three cutting chairs alongside our reception and hair care-station. The original staircase leads you to the spacious first floor with four more chairs and two backwash areas. The top floor is home to a more intimate styling room, with two independent backwashes and chairs. It’s ideal for weddings, groups and bespoke services such as wig-cutting at no extra cost.
